Prenelle Gallery presents a group show by members of ‘BLUSH’ including painting, photography and sculpture. The works explore images which collectively construct the city as we see it, fractured, piecemeal and at varying levels of intimacy and distance. The Blush group of artists came together out of the University of East London MA fine art course. Teresa Witz, Adam Forman, Andrew Peter Lane, Gavin Maughfling, Nadia Kalara. Nadia’s installation forms a path on the deck of the boat. Her work is informed by Paul Virilio’s ideas on the ahistoricism of the "civilisation of forgetting", where the "loss of memory" is the process of forgetting the essence of the path, the journey. The installation reconstructs the metaphorical path through an overt concrete materiality, subjected to the etchings of time and climate, positing the idea of the memory which can be recovered from things. |
